This app helps convert printed text (book excerpts, receipts) to digital text that can be processed by the user. It allows the user to select a picture from photos or take one using the camera and after processing the image to produce better results, the Tesseract OCR algorithm will display the recognized text in the text box. The converted text can then be edited in the box, with convenient find and replace text fields, and shared through email and social media or uploaded to a Google Drive document for further editing.

As the Tesseract software is open source and not too developed, results are by no means very accurate, but with clear images and image processing, the results should be somewhat useful. This is just meant to be a simple convenience app. It is important to make sure the angle the camera is rotated matches the orientation of the camera on screen, or else the results will be gibberish.

Warning and Tips: Make sure your picture only consists of text, or else Tesseract might not be able to detect anything. In addition, results might be best if text is dark and background is lighter. Also, make sure you make an extra effort to rotate your camera into either portrait or landscape mode so it wont confuse the image picker. Lastly, you have to click the upload button twice in order to get your first upload, because the first time only logs you into your google account. Thanks!
